Title: Panga-Rehe Stories
ISBN10-13: 1957625031 : 9781957625034
The first English-language edition of a surreal 1975 book by the Estonian artist JÃ"ri Arrak (perhaps best known in the US for his work on the legendary animation Suur Tõll ). "Panga-Rehe Farmstead" is an old house where the artist and his family spent the summer. "The days passed as wonderful summer days always do: we sunbathed, swam in the sea, hiked in the forest, and all helped to cook in the big kitchen. But every night, I had strange dreams. I believe you probably haven't had some of them yet, and that's why I wrote this book. " â The Shutter-Closer had a strange appearance, somewhat human-like, somewhat animal-like, but neither when put together. She was yellow and tall, her head almost brushing the eaves. And what a strange wavy shape her body made! I wasnâ t afraid at all, but sputtered in laughter. The Shutter-Closer stopped, turned her head to look at me, and stared for a very, very long time with bright red eyes. â --from Panga-Rehe Stories JÃ"ri Arrak (1936-2022) was an Estonian painter and graphic artist. His works are displayed in the Estonian Museum of Art, the New York Museum of Modern Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Ludwig Art Museum in Cologne, Germany. Adam Cullen is a professional translator of Estonian prose, poetry, drama, and childrenâ s literature into English. His translation of Martin Algusâ s The Lion won the 2022 BBC Audio Drama Awards and a Prix Europa Special Commendation. In 2020, his translation of Kai Aareleidâ s Burning Cities (Peter Owen Publishers) was long-listed for the International Dublin Literary Award. Originally from Minnesota, Cullen has lived in Estonia for 15 years.

Title: 50 Watts Zine n.1
By (author): Emanuel Schongut
ISBN10-13: 195762504X : 9781957625041
This is the first in a new series of 50 Watts zines about books and illustration. "I think the 60s and 70s were probably one the most creatively interesting periods for everyone. Art, music, film all pushing the envelope. New York City was affordable and fun, fertile in its influences. Book cover art, book jacket art was fun concept art, a bit more free than other illustration work. "--Manny Schongut Emanuel Schongut studied art under Richard Lindner at Pratt Institute, graduating in 1960 with an MFA. He worked in watercolor, pencil, and pen and ink, and was represented by Push Pin Studios in the 1970s. In addition to his book cover designs, he worked in editorial and advertising illustration and illustrated over twenty childrenâ s books. His archive is now held by the Norman Rockwell Museum. Manny and I worked on this zine in the fall of 2022, before he passed away in December. His covers are reproduced here with the blessing of Rick Sacks, Mannyâ s nephew. Dedicated to the memory of Emanuel (Manny) Schongut (1936-2022).
