| Title: Angel Rock Leap |
| By (author): Ellen Weisberg |
| ISBN10-13: 1943849870 : 9781943849871 |
| Can a persons life really be over at just 19? Sarah challenges this notion when, after flunking out of school, she decides to return to her hometown to try to gain a better understanding of what might be holding her back in life. Home is the hardest place for Sarah to teach herself to stop being a victim. But it is also likely the most important place to do it. She uses her newfound knowledge about herself to pull others out of similar crises, as love is rediscovered and friendship is borne out of adversity. Angel Rock Leap is riddled with lost and broken characters, each guilty of hurting those around them because they, themselves, hurt. This is an anti-bullying story that is Christian principle-based, with particular emphasis on the idea that hurting people hurt people. |
| Reviews: |
|
"What at first appears to be an overblown high school drama proves to be an astute look at the painful connection between low self-esteem and bullying
A unique voice emerges from an unlikely heroine in this quickly paced coming-of-age story." -- Kirkus Reviews
|
|
Angel Rock Leap wraps a diverse selection of themes (alienation, bullying, and how victims turn tables to become something greater than their pain) into its story, and is a strong recommendation for fiction readers seeking emotional stories of protagonists who hover at the intersections of
life-changing events and decisions. -- D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

|
“Angel Rock Leap” by Ellen Weisberg and Ken Yoffe is so realistic and covers relevant issues affecting society today. The characters truly seem like real people to me. Ifelt their anger and angst permeating into my hands through the pages of this novel. I could easily relate to some of the issues that the protagonist has to overcome, such as learning how to get past hurt and anger caused by people not worthy of our energy. While this novel is written about young adults, I think readers of all ages will enjoy it, and find themselves relating. “Angel Rock Leap,” would be a great selection for a reader’s group. -- Paige Lovitt for Reader Views

| Title: Bullet Riddled |
| Sub-title: The First S.W.A.T. Officer Inside Columbine and Beyond |
| By (author): Grant Whitus |
| ISBN10-13: 1943276021 : 9781943276028 |
| Grant Whitus joined the Colorado S.W.A.T in 1992. His seventeen year career was one of constant headlines. Among leading countless drug raids and hostage situations, he was on the front lines of the Columbine Massacre, The Platte County Tragedy, the Albert Petrosky shooting, and the Granby tank rampage. Speaking for the first time, Whitus gives the unvarnished truth of those, and many other, major S.W.A.T operations. Now retired, he opens up about his time behind the shield. Bullet Riddled is the full unabridged disclosure of what happened during his storied career; including the brutal morning of the Columbine Massacre. More than just a retelling, Bullet-Riddled is an in-depth look at the day-to-day of S.W.A.T and focuses on the men and women who inherit so much pain to keep us safe. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the aftermath of the Columbine tragedy. The following days saw major changes within S.W.A.T. Men cracked, leaders folded and the entire country demanded changes. But these changes, like all reforms, met with stiff resistance from the old guard. Friendships turned into rivals and the infrastructure of S.W.A.T began to unravel. As resignations piled up, Grant rebuilt the entire team from hand-selected recruits. He finally had his elite team, one that would face new demons and disorders. |

| The economies of Earths nations were tanking. It was a world full of desperate people; the homeless and dispossessed were everywhere. It was a world ripe for human Separatists, whose survival depended on building a legion of human fighters, to go recruiting. The Separatists broke away from the rest of humanity centuries ago and developed their own technology, but now they must return to the home world in order to build an army. Lieutenant Commander Edgar Fitzpatrick is sent to begin the recruiting effort, right under the noses of Earths governments. A twenty-nine-year-old escaped prisoner, 1553441, who had been a college professor before he annoyed the government, was one such man. The sixteen-year-old runaway, Argentina de la Fuentes, was another such perfect recruit. Two strangers from backgrounds worlds apart, along with thousands of other undesirables are to be trained to fight a terrible enemy, huge Reptilian beings who live to fight. Yet the Separatists, who recruited them, have their own dark secret, a secret that would threaten them all and could lead to the destruction of worlds including Earth. |
