    Title: After The Image
    By (author): Marina Gadonneix
    ISBN13: 9791090306462
After the Image is a series of photographs that reveals the shooting and staging devices for photographing artworks, interrogates their aura while never figuring them in the images. It thus shows us an invisible object, off the frame (only referred to through the caption) that one must mentally reconstruct; an empty scenography of the moment of the exhibition and of the shooting. The series shows what will disappear to become an image as much as the devices established to â make imageâ .

    Title: Banque Vincent Bergerat
    ISBN13: 9791090306172
The Banque Vincent Bergerat (BVB) is a living organism, like any bank, plant, animal, etc. Created in 2006, the BVB places itself close to the artistic fictions which cover the 20 th and 21 st centuries, such as Marcel Broothaers' Musée d'Art Moderne, département des aigles (1968), which range of activities extended to accommodate a financial section and produced gold ingots marked with eagles, or Gérard Gasiorowski's AWK (WorosisKiga academy), and its 500 hats signed with famous students' names or more recently, in 2001, Maurizio Cattelan's 6th (false) Caribbean biennial. The BVB's distinctive feature does not lie in the fact that it introduces reality, a necessary component - within a certain amount - to any fictional construction, but rather in the place given to this component, since in fact, here, everything is real, the creation of a specific currency, the transactions, the art collection, and even a scholarship : all this finally tending to bring the BVB and its various approaches closer to Gille Mahé's commercial / artistic devices, cf. this piece financed by Rudi Ricciotti - and carried out from 1993 to 1996 : Gilles Mahé thinks about Rudi Ricciotti while playing golf.

    Title: Chauvet, L'aventure Intérieure
    By (author): Philippe Durand
    ISBN13: 9791090306974
Discovered in the Ardèche region of southern France in 1994, the Chauvet cave is an important site for the history of humankind, as much for the technical and aesthetic qualities of the ancient paintings on its walls as for the other artefacts found in the caveâ s chambers. One of the oldest painted caves in the world, it has been closed to the public since its discovery and remains to this day an object of fascination for people everywhere, marking a major turning point in parietal art and in the history of the first modern humans. By venturing deep into heart of this unique paleolithic site, Philippe Durand takes up a considerable artistic challenge. The cave presents itself as a closed universe, a quantifiable set of signs within a spectacular natural architecture, a place where time seems to stand still. Durand purposefully distances himself from objective representations, in order to offer a more intimate, more subjective window into the cave and its art. To achieve this, he combines colour filters with multiple exposure techniques. Durand thus defines a space of creation and non-objective representation, one able to focus the attentions of each viewer in a different way. Rather than working with colour in a realist mode, he uses it to suggest an element of information or a specific code, as in astronomical or microscopic photography. Durand unearths the original idea of a cave of dreams and imagination, leading us on a psychedelic journey through one of the worldâ s most celebrated sites for prehistoric art. Born in Paris in 1963, Philippe Durand was the winner of the second Chauvet cave photography competition. The book is the result of his privileged access to the original cave for a series of private visits, each giving rise to an unforgettable photography session.

    Title: CHROMA
    By (author): Eva Nielsen
    ISBN10-13: 2492175138 : 9782492175138
Eva Nielsen has developed a hybrid practice exploring the boundaries between painting and photography while embracing the potential for permeability between these two mediums. Her compositions combine the traditional techniques of painting with those of silk screening and are created using overlays. From the outskirts of towns and cities to desolate nature scenes or liminal spaces, they bring together landscapes and architectural elements in a sequence of strata, evoking the sedimentary mechanisms having resulted in the territorial fragments they represent. These creative processes typical of Eva Nielsenâ s universe enrich the works featured in Chroma, which is published in connection with the sixth edition of the LVMH Métiers dâ Art residency. Invited to set up her studio for six months on the premises of Les Tanneries Roux in Romans-sur-Isère, the artist was able to give a new substantiality to her creations and make two completely opposite materialsâ leather and silkâ occupy the same surface. Throughout the residency, she was also able to draw on the silk printing expertise of the atelier Twinpix. The result is a new series of works unmistakably shaped by the residencyâ s geographic surroundings, with the proximity of the Isère river and the omnipresent Vercors range.

    Title: Colour Sparks
    By (author): Amandine Guruceaga
    ISBN13: 9791090306691
The recipient of the second LVMH Métiers dâ Art residency program, Amandine Guruceaga worked at the Riba-Guixa tannery in Spain. Collaborating on site with artisans from the tannery, she produced about twenty leather-based works. Colour Sparks stems from this residency. The book offers a glimpse into the artistâ s creative process, documenting the display of the works inside their exhibition space, as well as the six-hour painting performance that took place on the floor of the tannery, punctuating the book as a series of living pictures. The artist created a special leather motif from which each back cover was cut out, making a single original out of each copy.

    Title: Dominique Lambert
    By (author): Stephanie Solinas
    ISBN13: 9791090306370
Dominique is the most popular mixed-gender first name in France, it is also the twenty-seventh commonest forename; combined with Lambert, which is the twenty-seventh commonest last name. So Stephanie Solinas defined her survey population as being the hundred and ninety-one Dominique Lambert listed in the phone book (the French white pages). Implementing the various different techniques used by officialdom to represent a personâ s identity, involving experts, and proceeding in successive stages, Stéphanie Solinas explores and exhausts the system and tools of representation itself. For the first time, the book deploys the full set of faces in this sample of people, taking the viewer on a tour of the worlds of Dominique Lamberts, to experience the distance between the clichés of representation and the irreducible quality of uniqueness.

    Title: Duck
    By (author): Olivier Cablat
    ISBN13: 9791090306332
In 1930, duck farmer Martin Maurer from Flanders, Long Island, decided to construct a giant duck-shaped shop to sell the Peking ducks they raised to passing motorists. In 1972, in the book Learning from Las vegas, Robert Venturi, Denise Scott- Brown, and Steven Izenour, studying the architecture of that city, outlined 2 main concepts of popular, functional and commercial architecture : the decorated shed and the "Duck" : a building in which the form highlights its primary function in a literal and most often ostentatious and playful manner. A building that is also a sculpture and a sign : the term honors the Big Duck on Flanders. In 2014, Olivier Cablat try to re-activate the concept of the DUCK by building a massive digital archive, without any geographical and historical limit. This archive is made by a part of personal pictures, digitalised books and found pictures on the digital touristic and curiosity databases from the Internet. These picture will constitute the RAW material of his multifaceted project DUCK, A theory of Evolution, which purpose a fictional and genealogic study about the mutations of the DUCK, less or more closed to the original concept.

    Title: Equivalences
    By (author): Douglas Mandry
    ISBN13: 9791090306790
In a digital age of ever-faster technological innovation, Douglas Mandry explores the photographic medium. Using analog methods, he retouches each image by hand, using either vintage photographic processes or by physically cutting and pasting the images he works with. For "Unseen Sights", published in the book Equivalences, the Swiss photographer was inspired by early 20th century postcards from the Middle East. Using acrylic paint and an airbrush, he colorized black-and-white prints of landscapes in Cappadocia, Turkey, then re-photographed the compositions. Rather than merely reproducing images, the book offered the artist an opportunity to re-interpret the pictures. Playing with layers of color in print, the artist created a new representation â using, this time, a mechanical process. The original images merge with the transformed pictures, sketching out a sequence with a non-linear narrative. The title of the book pays tribute to Stieglitz's famous "Equivalents" works, which depict vertical fragments of sky and clouds and are widely considered the first abstract photo series.

    Title: Ester
    By (author): Marion Verboom
    ISBN13: 9791090306813
The book Ester tells six months of immersion, experimentation and artistic production led by Marion Verboom at the Mannifattura Thélios for the third edition of LVMH Métiers d'Arts residencies. The French artist has imbued the geographical, historical and cultural context of the residence located 80 km from Venice in the dolomites at the foot of the Vajont dam, and was particularly interested in the mechanics of rocks and its interaction on the river. 'human activity. She juxtaposes in her work the mountain representations of the painters Bellini, Basaiti, Giotto or Cima da Conegliano to images of the factory at the forefront of innovation. This sequence is punctuated by the reproduction of his works, photographed in the manner of anthropological artifacts.

    Title: Event Horizon
    By (author): Quentin Lacombe
    ISBN13: 9791090306653
In astronomy, an â event horizonâ delineates the area around a black hole beyond which events can no longer be observed from the outside: objects which reach this point will seem to float indefinitely, unmoored from time and space. Quentin Lacombeâ s book Event Horizon is a personal response to this phenomenon, in which everything in his images (organic matter, animals, and inanimate and architectural objects) appears to drift along an endless horizon line. Photography, digital manipulation, and collage are used by the artist to build his personal cosmology.
